  19. <p>     BRIDGET HALL, a 16-year-old Texan with a love of canned chili,
  20. is the first real supermodel to come along since Kate Moss wafted
  21. onto the fashion pages. Unlike some of her lucky colleagues,
  22. Hall was not discovered at an airport or a nightclub in Dusseldorf;
  23. she plodded her way through catalog shoots starting at age nine.
  24. Now Bridget has appeared on the covers of 22 magazines, including
  25. Vogue, and she has just been chosen for a coveted Ralph Lauren
  26. fragrance campaign. But for Hall, with supermodeldom come even
  27. more important perks: "I get invited to a lot of parties."

  31. <p>     JACK NICHOLSON may be changing his ways. Two years ago he was
  32. dumped by actress REBECCA BROUSSARD, the mother of his two young
  33. children, because she was tired of his philandering. Asked about
  34. his behavior a few months ago, Nicholson remained devilishly
  35. unrepentant. "You only lie to two people in your life," he said,
  36. "your girlfriend and the police." But now he and Broussard have
  37. been spotted carousing together in Paris. Nicholson says they
  38. have reunited and told a reporter that this time he plans to
  39. "try very hard."

  43. <p>     When MICHAEL JORDAN, the world's greatest basketball player,
  44. left the court last year, observers groped for explanations.
  45. His father's murder? Burnout? A profound desire to hit under .200 playing for the minor league Birmingham Barons? In an exclusive
  46. interview with the New York Post, Jordan revealed the primary
  47. reason: lack of gratitude among his Chicago Bulls teammates.
  48. "They had no idea how much pressure and grief I had to put up
  49. with off the court while carrying them on the court," he said.
  50. "I wanted them to find out for themselves how tough it was to
  51. be on their own."

  55. <p>     Like many unknown model-actresses, PAULA BARBIERI was once photographed
  56. for Playboy magazine. The shots, though, were not published.
  57. As a Playboy spokesman explains, "We like to tie pictures to
  58. something people can understand, like a movie or television
  59. show; we were just waiting for the right opportunity." With
  60. Barbieri in the news as O.J. Simpson's most recent girlfriend,
  61. that opportunity has presented itself. The pictures will appear
  62. in the October issue.

  64. <p>     Lounge-wear purveyor and reputed madam HEIDI FLEISS has been
  65. indicted on unsexy charges of tax evasion. Fleiss and her father
  66. are accused of hiding hundreds of thousands of dollars in prostitution
  67. earnings and falsifying a loan application to purchase the mansion
  68. that became Heidi's celebrity party den.
